Intro

Drummer Quinton Robinson’s fiery energy and deep pocket have put him at the top of many call lists. but playing at the highest level is just the beginning of what he considers his job. “Q” can also be enlisted to run Ableton Live for a show, write a drum book for a musical, or take the helm as musical director for an artist. No matter which skills he utilizes on any given day, his role is always to contribute to the success of a project in any way he can.

This mindset often results in Q moving beyond the role of sideman and becoming the nerve center of a project. He has seamlessly woven tech into almost everything he does. The MacBook Pro, Roland Electronics, and other 21st century tools are as essential to his set-up as any drum or cymbal and have become extensions of his musical mind. As an endorser for Ableton Live, Q has mastered the platform. From creating stems in his studio to firing them in real time during a show, he is capable of meeting any need the music may call for.

Apart from his many musical and technical talents, Q is known for relentless positivity, contagious joy for music and people, and purpose-driven work ethic. Performing at the highest level means helping others to do the same. These attributes make him not just valuable, but often indispensable. His presence in a group (whether on the bandstand or on the plane) is foremost in the reputation that precedes him: Energetic yet steady. Masterful yet curious. Creative yet dependable.

Q has been the touring drummer for Avery*Sunshine, Anthony David, Bobby Brown, Peabo Bryson and is currently the drummer for the North American tour of the hit broadway musical “Hamilton”.
